GENERAL SANTOS CITY- The Local Government Unit of General Santos City along with other national agencies and private institutions actively participated in the International Coastal Clean Up on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Queen Tuna Park.

The event was spearheaded by CENRO headed by Allan Marcilla.

With the theme “Battle For Litter-Free Seas”, the activity aimed to send a powerful message of protecting the oceans through the participation of all citizens.

City Councilors Shandee Llido-PestaƱo and Jonathan Blando Lourdes Casabuena gladly thanked everyone who cooperated in keeping the coast clean.

“Daghang salamat ug congratulations sa tanang niadto diri. This is just the start. God bless everyone,” Councilor Llido said.

Coastal Clean-Up is one of the world’s largest annual preservation and protection events under Proclamation 470 series of 2003 declaring the third Saturday of September every year as International Coastal Cleanup Day (ICCD) to promote public vigilance against waste on land and water.
