General Santos City(November 5, 2019)-City Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera directed all departments to revisit their Disaster Management Preparedness Plans and ordered the creation of LGU -wide Disaster Management Team.
The team is headed by its incident commander, Enrique Voltaire A. Tiu, Safety Officer Jonathan D. Villano, RN and Public Information Officer Eduardo P. Reston, Jr. The marshalls are Ferdinand J. Pareja, MPA, Dr. Lalaine M. Calonzo, PLT.Col. Jessie B. Ramos (Ret), and Rodrigo V. Buot. The logistics and communications group includes Engr. Gina Y. Pigar, Joel S. Duterte, RN and Engr. Teodorico B. Dumagan, Jr.
After a series of investigations and assessments done in the City Hall building and Investment Action building, Mayor Rivera said that there is a need to enhance or improve the disaster preparedness and management response within the LGU.
The city will procure additional materials such as bump hats, go bags, emergency equipment, radios and communication gear for the LGU’s disaster response team to speed up response actions during emeegencies.
Coordinators and marshalls will also be assigned in different areas during disasters or emergencies.
To further equip the LGU employees’ response during emergencies, trainings and drills will be conducted.
With this team, the Local Government Unit envisions the city and its people to be more resilient and safe in times of calamity and disaster.(CPIO)
