As the opening of the lighting ceremony, on Monday, December 9, 2019, General Santos City intends to have an eco-friendly Christmas by using LED lights that conserve energy consumption.
GenSan City opted to have a simple decoration for Christmas as the city focuses on sharing something with our brothers and sisters who suffered from the devastation of earthquakes.
City Mayor Ronnel Rivera in his message said that Christmas is a season of sharing.
“Yung season of Christmas is also a season of sharing, that is why we always focus our Paskuhan to sharing. Hindi man masyadong magarbo ang ating lightings, we always make sure na maipadama natin sa mga Heneral at mga bisita ang pasko tungo sa ating mga programa sa Paskuhan na nakasentro sa pagbibigayan,” the Mayor said.
RD Allan Farnazo and ASDS Mario Bermudez from the Department of Education and SM GenSan Manager Hermon Hernandez also graced the lighting ceremony.
GenSan Tourism Council Chairperson, Ms. Jane Rivera also gave a speech emphasizing the real reason for the Christmas season.
“This is a time to look back sa mga blessings na ating natanggap ngayong taon and above all, let us not forget the essence of Christmas and that is the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ,” Mrs. Rivera said.
Everyone in the event excitedly witnessed the lighting ceremony and the launching of Christmas ID.
Paskuhan sa Gensan soft opening will be held on December 11, 2019, while the grand opening will be on December 13, 2019, 6:00 pm at the Oval Gymnasium.
